My ceramic work draws inspiration from many sources: the age worn patinas of Chinese bronzes, Mayan architecture, African textiles and the dreamlike animal fetishes of Inuit artifacts. The greatest inspiration comes from the clay itself. Surface pattern and design is inherent in the material. The artist's work is simply to look deeply until these subtleties become evident.
